DIG Ekpoudom Exposes PDP … Says He Left As A Result Of Dictatorship, Deceit, Violence

The retired Deputy Inspector of Police, Mr. Udom Ekpoudom, in a weekend chat with Uyo-based radio station, Comfort FM, has stated some obvious reasons that informed his decision to dump the People Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ekpoudom who joined the PDP in 2010 said in a late morning programme, The Promise, that he decided to part ways with the party owing to its undemocratic inclinations, deception and violence.
“I discovered that PDP was not democratic. They don’t know what it meant by democracy. Somebody was all in all in the party.
“I don’t like deception. PDP is the party of deceits. They continue to say what they don’t do,” said Ekpoudom.
He also added that since he joined the PDP, the political activities of the party were always marred by violence and irregularities. He accused some PDP stalwarts of buying arms for the youths noting that there is no way he could continue his political life in such an atmosphere because he is a man that has strong aversion for violence.
DIG Ekpoudom was revealing that prior to his defection in August, he had tried to reach out to Governor Udom Emmanuel in order to find a way of reforming and sanitizing the party but he was denied access to the governor saying “I couldn’t imagine somebody of my caliber who is not a beggar that could not see my governor.”
Expressing his views on Senator Godswill Akpabio’s defection to APC, Ekpoudom stated his belief in Akpabio’s political ideology describing him as a man who loves Akwa Ibom State.
He said since Senator Godswill Akpabio left Hilltop Mansion in 2015, there are no new developments that change the face of Akwa Ibom. According to the former DIG, “all the beautiful roads you see in Akwa Ibom State were built by Akpabio, but there were some that were done by Obong Victor Attah.”
Speaking on the recent APC primaries, DIG Udom Ekpoudom put to rest various allegations linking him to gun attack at the APC party secretariat in Uyo including his ward in Etim Ekpo local government area.
“I don’t know which one to defend myself. Some people said my orderly fired somebody at the party secretariat in Uyo. Some said I was the one that fired. Now it is said that I was the one that fired somebody at my ward in Etim Ekpo. I am telling you everything that is said is false.
“I’m from Ward 5 in Etim Ekpo local government area. Our primaries were very peaceful; there was no problem at all. When I was at the APC Secretariat in Uyo nobody was shot; I left peacefully,” he said.
However, Ekpoudoum did not attest to complete absence of the conflicts situation in the recent concluded APC primary elections but he noted that “it is very normal when two to three people come together with different interests, there must be quarrel.”
